Lessons

From bassoon fundamentals to reed making and advanced techniques, my 60-minute video lessons provide students with personalized instruction from home. During the first lesson, we will establish goals for our time together and create a lesson plan tailored to student needs and experience level. In future lessons, we will review weekly exercises, discuss assignments, and provide feedback on student progress.

Before beginning lessons, I offer a complimentary 30-minute introduction session with students and parents. Contact me to schedule a call today.

FAQs

How much do lessons cost?

I charge $50 for each 60-minute lesson. I bill once at the beginning of each month for the scheduled lessons. Payment is accepted electronically via PayPal or Venmo.

What if I need to reschedule?

I understand that schedules change and sometimes you may need to adjust the day or time of a lesson. I request 24-hours notice of any lessons changes. Students who cancel last-minute or without rescheduling are not eligible for a credit or refund.

Do I need to buy books?

I can recommend age-appropriate method books and sheet music to order online, or we can work on strengthening pieces already in their repertoire for auditions or performances. It’s often a combination of the two.

How often are lessons?

I recommend meeting once a week for lessons, but can adjust (either more or less frequently) to meet your student’s goals and schedule.

What equipment will we need?

I use Zoom video conferencing for virtual lessons, so you will need a device with a camera and internet access. It is also helpful for students to use headphones and an external microphone while playing, to improve sound quality and reduce feedback noise.

Can you provide reeds?

Yes! I make my own reeds and am happy provide them to my students. I can mail reeds as needed for $10 each + shipping costs. I can also instruct students in reed making if this is a skill they would like to learn or strengthen.
